Welcome to the new year Lion Chasers! Boy are we grateful for all of you and all the crazy hard work you put in last year. We are even more grateful that we continue to see all of your smiling faces around the gym in 2017, it must mean we’re doing something right. As we all know, with the new year comes resolutions, and many of those resolutions are to get in shape, so you might be seeing a lot of new faces around the gym in the next few weeks. Now you may be wondering why I’m telling you something everyone already knows, but it’s because you Lion Chasers can play an important role here at the gym. Most of these people are nervous to be stepping into a gym for either the first time ever or the first time in a while, and it’s intimidating enough being surrounded by people who all know each other and know the routine. You can make the difference between them having a bad first gym experience and a great one by doing some seriously simple things:

  1. If you see a new face, introduce yourself. If a new member knows one face in the gym, they’re already bound to feel a little more comfortable.
  2. If you see someone struggling to get a movement down, one that you know like the back of your hand, take a second and maybe explain it to them a little differently so they’re getting the most out of it.
  3. Odds are, the coaches will pair you up with a new face at some point, so do your best to take the lead. Make sure you’re going in the right order if we’re doing more of a circuit based workout, and that they’re taking the right amount of rest between rounds in strength.
  4. If you get paired up with a new face for the metcon, be patient if they have to take it a little slower. Taking it back for one workout to help someone out will be beneficial in the long run for the both of you.

We’re pumped about this upcoming year, and can’t wait to see all of you grow. Thank you for all you do for this gym, we wouldn’t be where we are or what we are with out all of you. Keep chasing the lion!
